Horse world hits out at Lush over their support of Hunt Saboteurs

The horse world has hit out at cosmestic giant Lush as they revealed their support for the Hunt Saboteurs Association (HSA). Lush this week launched a new product, a Fantastic Mrs Fox Soap Bar. It features a blood red fox paw print design on it and Lush have also produced a pamphlet condemning hunting as a cruel sport for foxes, horses and hounds.

Customers are being asked to fill in a postcard which urges local police forces to dedicate more resources to enforcing the hunting act. Proceeds from the sale of the soap bar will go to the HSA, who before the hunting ban went through were involved in a number of violent acts against hunt supporters. Lush will sell the product unti, boxing day and hope to raise £50,000 for the HSA.

The Countryside Alliance (CA) called on horse riders to boycott Lush, who also said that they were anti horseracing and any sports that pushed animals. The CA encouraged people to join facebook groups and sign petitions against the store. However, this week they have asked their supporters to keep their protests within the law as reports emerged of hunting supporters going into Lush stores and knocking over displays of the soap and replacing Lush's leaflets with pro hunting ones.

Lush have provided funding for various conservation programs around the world in the past but in involving themselves with a group like the HSA many feel they have made a grave error. The HSA still regularly attend hunt meets dressed in balaclavas and bandanas to monitor hunt activities. They have been accused often of intimidation and violence towards hunt supporters. Lush said they were unaware of the HSA ever being involved in violence and said the groups monitoring activities were vital to support the hunting ban, as the police force and the government do not seem to be enforcing it properly.

Last year Lush paid the legal fees of 56 protestors from the organisation Plane Stupid who broke into Stansted Airport and delayed thousands of passengers duringa protest against an extra runway being built at the airport.

At Polocrosse Extreme we fully support the boycott of Lush and would urge people to join the Boycott Lush group(s) on Facebook. The biggest anti Lush group presently has nearly 9000 members, a group urging people not to boycott Lush presently has 71 members.

Also at Polocrosse Extreme we are going even further and want everyone to boycott Fantastic Mr Fox the film, partly because of this product (which we are sure the merchadise guys must have authorised) and partly because Hollywood for some reason has decided to give all the animal's american accents while leaving the farmers with british accents, which, to us, just seems a un necessary americanisation of a great British story.
