request its members to help Sport England survey and report
on success of Under 21's horsemanship prize
The
UKPA has requested that its members take part in a Sport
England survey designed to establish what is important to
people when they take part in sport. The UKPA chairman Dave
Brookes said that this was a great opportunity for the membership
to help their sport, as the results of the survey can influence
areas such as Sport England planning and funding. He added
that at the moment Sport England purely want you to register
a few details and it should only take a couple of minutes.

In other news
the UKPA, in conjunction with Australian Horse Training,
reported on the success of the Under 21's Horsemanship prize.
This prize was given to Alex Richardson and Will Halcrow
at the UKPA ball in 2008 and involved the two of them spending
a week training with Jason Webb of Australian Horse Training,
who sponsored the prize. They were apparently left very
weary with aching legs from riding up to eight horses a
day each from young polocrosse ponies to just started 17.2hh
dressage horses and everything in between!
Alex said, "My
stay at Risebridge was brilliant, I have worked with horses
all my life but never enjoyed it as much as I did working
with Jason.
My stay was a real learning curve and has changed the way
I work with certain horses!" Jason was full of praise,
“Both Alex and Will coped really well with riding
very inexperienced horses and they learnt to sit to a few
bucks! They mucked in, worked hard and were a pleasure to
have around. They were a credit to the UKPA and I’m
looking forward to watching them develop as players and
riders.”
And finally UKPA
members have the chance to help their junior squad by purchasing
rebound practice nets. The Under 16's are selling the nets
to raise funds for their tour to Australia, to see the full
