Nominations open in UKPA Election race
The nominations are open for all the UKPA executive posts that are due for reelection this year, plus the posts which are vacant due to resignations. It has been a fairly good (or maybe bad) year for resignations. Both UKPA trustees, Caroline Shearing and Julian Smith resigned, as has Hamish Michael, the Chief Umpire and both players reps, Richard Chapple and Simon Shearing. None of them have public stated their reasons for resigning but it is believed that a lack of time could be a major factor in a number of cases, as no executive members are paid and most have full time jobs.

Barack Obama and
John McCain: neither are thought very likely to run for any posts on
the UKPA executive but you never know, after all only one will be US president...
The complete list of jobs which are up for re election are as follows:-
Vice Chairman - presently Eric Jenkinson
Secretary - Presently Sue Brookes
Trustee - 2 year post - presently vacant
Trustee - 1 year post - presently vacant
Director of coaching - presently vacant
Players Representative - presently vacant - [only playing members are permitted to vote for this position]
Chief Umpire/Director of Umpiring - [1 year post]

Officer - presently Iain Heaton

This year there is also a proposed new executive structure which will be voted on at the AGM so it should be looked at and considered before hand.
