League
Points up for Debate |
|
With the 2007 UK polocrosse season looming and the fact this year the leagues are official and will have a trophy it is time to discuss points (they will equal prizes!). The points system has been looked at and it has been decided that the Plates do not carry enough points, particularly seeing there has been discussion concerning move super eight format tournaments this year. With this in mind the provisional points sytem for next year will look like the column to the right. Now we need your feedback! Before the Plate was worth the same points as third plate in the cup (so A grade plate was worth 15 points, it is now worth 21) Is thi enough? It is still worth less than the B grade cup, is this right? There are too conflicting arguments; firstly to win the B grade cup you will probably have to win all your matches, to win the A grade plate you will lose at least one. However, you are winning against tougher opposition, in theory if the winners of the A grade plate played the winners of the B grade cup the A grade plate champions would win. Should they therefore receive more points? The leagues were set up in order to give people a more long term aim and also to reflect the fact thats its not just A grade players who are important to their clubs. With this is mind, which is more important? The level the team are playing at or the number of games you play in order to win your grade? From a purely personal view I would either leave the points like this or possibly give the Plate parity with the Cup immediately below it (so the A grade plate is worth exactly the same as the B grade cup) but these are not my leagues anymore, they are the UKPA leagues and so in a democratic way I invite you all to give me your feedback and to tell me how the leagues should be structured. Discuss it on the all new look forum under the appropriate topic or email me. There have also been suggestions made to me that there should be leagues for the different grades, i.e. an A grade league, a B grade league, or maybe leagues run over fewer tournaments, (maybe a league run over the grades at Arden, Pennine, Welsh and Nationals) Again give me your feedback! |
