The French Affair

The French polocrosse team will be attending the World cup in 2007. They will not competing in the World cup itself but instead will be taking part in the Australian Equine Alliance Club Carnival that will be running alongside the main event.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of this news story, which was broken today by Polocrosse Worldwide, is the fact that the French teams coaches, our very own Jason and Hamish appear to have tied the knot in the off season! Polocrosse Worldwide says that "the French were first introduced to Polocrosse at the Henson Festival in 2004 by two UK-based former Zimbabweans: Jason and Hamish Burbidge." We have yet to determine if they are indeed now sharing the same surname but if so it will come as a big shock to a few people, namely Jason's wife Caroline and also Hamish's good friend, Greg "The Sarge" Sargeant.

One polocrosse insider said, "I knew nothing about this but it doesn't completely surprise me, all the Arden boys are very close. Also, Jason and Hamish wouldn't have made a big thing of their civil partnership; they probably just had a quiet ceremony with a few friends there, its possible it happened one night in Paris"

Both Jason and Hamish are set to compete on behalf of the UK in the Wordl cup in April so it is possible that this is simply part of a team bonding idea dreamed up by the UKPA Management team; Guy and Martin Robertson and Tom and James Simkin may be the next happy couples to walk down the aisle.

The French team are borrowing horses from the Warwick Juniors in order to play and there are rumours some other countries may well follow suit, with Zambia looking likely and the other European Nations who competed in the European Challenge, held in the UK last year (Germany, Norway and Holland), being possible candidates.

A (former) Arden boy! Maybe a bit too fond of women's clothing.....
